Meet your coach
Mary Lemmer, founder of Improve, is a keynote speaker, conference session facilitator, longtime entrepreneur, author, improv comedian, and recovering venture capitalist and startup unicorn director. She gave the TED Talk “How improv can improve your leadership and life” and has spoken at TED Women, TechCon, The Positive Business Conference, multiple years at the Agile Alliance conference, among speaking and leading interactive and empowering sessions for hundreds of companies around the world.
Mary is known as the “Deck Doctor” when it comes to creating and improving visual presentations, has written engaging and entertaining speeches for, and coached speakers on content, delivery, and confidence onstage. She has coached speakers that have graced the stages of TED, TED Women, Ronald McDonald House Fundraising Galas, TechStars Demo Days, among other high profile events and fundraising environments. She has advised startups through raising over $50 million and played a key role in several startup teams that have collectively raised over $3 billion, gone public and been acquired. She knows what funders (nonprofit donors and for profit investors) look for, as she was a director of a philanthropic fund that deployed over $500,000 across 28 nonprofits, and has been part of venture investing teams investing in dozens of startups.
In addition to her lived experience Mary has studied neuroscience at Duke University and has a certification in neuro linguistic programming (a methodology that helped her early in her career as a founder needing coaching support) and has developed coaching methods combining NLP with other techniques, leading to transformative change and impact.
